چکیده

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) are rare neoplasms with an incidence of about 0.001% in general population. They usually arise from components of nerve sheath such as perineural fibroblasts or Schwann cells, and are often considered as a form of soft tissue sarcoma.1 Most of these MPNSTs are located in the buttocks, thighs, brachial plexus, and paraspinal region, and are rarely seen in the head and neck. Only few cases of primary scalp MPNST have been reported till date.2,3 This article describes a rare case report of MPNSTof the occipital scalp region in non-neurofibromatosis person with diagnosis and management protocol.

Intrathoracic Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor: Histopathological and Immunohistochemical Features

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a rare nerve sheath tumor derived from Schwann cells or pleuripotent cells of neural crest. Neurogenic tumors make about 10-20% of all mediastinal tumors. Incidence of MPNST is 0.001% in general population and 0.16% in patients with neurofibromatosis I (NF I). We report a case of 60 year female presenting with progressive cough and breathlessne...

Giant malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor of the scalp.

PURPOSE Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST) constitute a group of soft tissue neoplasms with neurogenic origin. Association of MPNST with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) has been frequently reported as a result of malignant transformation of a pre-existing plexiform neurofibroma. However, most of the cases are small and few have been described with giant dimensions. We describe a ca...

Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor of the Inguinum and Angiosarcoma of the Scalp in a Child with Neurofibromatosis Type 1
